Planning Ahead
If you are planning a visit to the Bentley Historical Library, please be aware that some collections are stored off-site and require an advance notice of 48 hours to one week.
Off-site locations are noted in MIRLYN in the description under "Location." If the volumes or collection is noted as being "In Storage" advance notice will be required to use the material in the reading room. An advance notice is requested for all off-site materials. If there are any questions about the location of materials, please contact the reference staff at (734) 764-3482 or e-mail them at Bentley.ref@umich.edu.
Additionally, researchers planning to use audio-visual materials are advised to consult in advance with the reference staff so that the library can make available the appropriate equipment.
Information on lodging and directions are provided on the Bentley website also, please note the hours of the Bentley Library. We retrieve materials during the lunch hour.
Laptop computers are allowed in the reading room. There are electric outlets and data ports at all of the tables in the reading room. Use of Cellular phones is not permitted in the reading room.
Our parking lot is located on the south side of the building. All researchers must obtain a free parking permit at the Reference desk upon arrival at the library
